Divine Mercy Academy mainly follows the lead of GATEWAY SCHOOL DISTRICT regarding weather related delays and closings since they are our local school district. You can watch for Gateway School District on local news stations, however, we will also be calling information in for DMA regarding closings and delays, so you can watch for Divine Mercy Academy on WPXI and KDKA news, website or app. You will also receive notification via FACTS.
If you reside outside of the Gateway School District, you may follow your home school district for transportation to school. For example, if your home school district is delayed and Gateway remains open with regular hours, DMA will start classes on the normal schedule at 8:35 am. Your child may take his/her normal public school transportation to school on the delayed schedule and receive an excused tardy upon arrival. However, do NOT send your child on the bus if DMA is closed/delayed and your home school district is running on its normal schedule. There may not be anyone at DMA to let your child in the school in that situation.
On delay days, morning Extended Care will open at 9:00 am. Car rider drop off on delay days will be 10:20 am - 10:30 am. If you must bring your child to school prior to 10:20 am, your child must go to EXTENDED CARE (all registration and hourly fees apply. No exceptions.)
On delay days, Preschool/PreK will start at 10:20 a.m. and end at 2:50 pm. This applies to all FULL day students. If your child only attends preschool for ½ day, they will not have school on this day.
Hot Lunches will be served on delay days. French Bread Pizza will be the only lunch option available. No alternate lunch options will be offered on those days. Breakfast will NOT be served.
As always, the most important thing is your family’s well-being on days when the roads may be treacherous. Please, use your judgment and be safe!
Please see the FID (Flexible Instruction Days.) if a FID is called.
